Friday, July 17, 2020 was a very sad day. We loss Congressman John Lewis. I had the opportunity prior to his announcement this past October to see him on the House floor. They were voting on the passage of bill to ban uranium mining near the Grand Canyon in an effort to protect the water supply. The Havasupai Tribe Councilmen Richard Watahomigie and Councilwoman Carletta Tilousi were present to make argument. The bill was finally passed after more than 30 years. I felt a sense of pride seeing Congressman Lewis at work fighting for change. This is a tremendous loss. Congressman Lewis will truly be missed, but forever loved. This was a true blessing to be in the midst of such an awesome American Civil Rights icon. While there I also attended the pre-impeachment trails for Trump. Pictured with me is Councilwoman Carletta Tilousi of the Havasupai Tribe.
